WE 11.0 TOYBOAT self-titled LP $7.00 Toyboat features former and/or current members of Wynona Riders, 3 Years Down, and the Hi Fives, but don’t let that fool you- Toyboat is decidedly darker and more brooding than any of it’s predecessors. Much of their debut full-length album is slower (not slow) and more adventurous (especially in the area of arrangements) than most bands in independent music today. There is a distinctly mature feel to this record, from obscure English pop to goth heavy-weights like the Cure and Joy Division. This is what happens when people start to tire of playing the same old thing. Luckily for Toyboat they’ve managed to take their dissatisfaction and turn into something more than just angst.
