**NEWS** O.K. due to overwhelming demand, we have to shut off the "free CD Sampler" offer. If you missed out you can quit yer whinin', 'cause they're only $1.00 ppd. Lenore Syndrome is back from recording the 5 song EP... it turned out awesome. Listen to the first song, Binary Insult, and see for yourselves. Record release show will be in Bloomington IN with Racebannon and Milemarker on June 8th. The Real Diego leaves for a 2 week tour next week, if they ever give me the dates/venues i'll post 'em here. They just received an amazing review in the new issue of Slap Skateboard Magazine, so check that out too. More soon...

++UPDATES GALORE++ The 21 song 2002 CD sampler is out now. Right now we're giving them away but we'll soon put them up in the online store for one measly dollar. Send us an email now and tell us you want one and save a dollar, you damn cheapskates.
++LENORE SYNDROME++ Their recording date with Dale Meiners was bumped to April 5 - 7, which at first we were bummed about, but now its only a week away and the delay gave them the extra time to put the finishing touches on 2 new songs. This brings the total they'll be recording to 9 songs in 3 days… my guess is with the help of lots of coffee and ephedrine. After recording, they've lined up shows throughout April and May in IL, IN & OH, with 2 10 day tours to follow in June and July. Go check them out here: April 12th - Indianapolis IN @ Solidarity Books with Sex Tiger, and Red Leader April 20th - Bloomington IL @ The Prairie House with Viza Noir, and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades April, 24th - Indianapolis IN @ Solidarity Books with Kill Me Tomorrow, and (Long Live) The Romance Morgue April, 26th - Peoria IL @ VFW Hall with TBA May 18th - Columbus IN @ Jolie Crider Skatepark with Strangers As Heroes, When Sparks Fly May 25th - Dayton OH @ Jags with Tabula Rasa
Lastly, check out their review at Bettawreckonize.
++THE DREAM IS DEAD++ TDID are mixing their 5 song EP "Letter of Resignation" this week. We should have a rough mp3 up by next week. It's somewhat of a "concept" release, in that the theme of each song deals with the wage drudgery that we all face daily. They've also announced an upcoming EP on Escape Artist, check the EA site for more info as it develops. The Dream Is Dead are playing some regional dates before hitting the East Coast with Anodyne in June and the West Coast with Find Him And Kill Him in August. Do these guys ever stop? No. No they don't. Don't miss them. April 25th - Indianapolis IN @ Festivilla with Cephalic Carnage, Amongst the Swarm, Feast of Herod April 29th Louisville KY @ BRYCC House with Cephalic Carnage, tons more! May 5th Indianapolis IN @ Emerson Theater with Today is the Day, Amongst the Swarm, Majhas
++STRANGERS AS HEROES++ S*A*H has not broken up, contrary to what their lack of public presence might suggest. Rather, they're "redefining their sound" (what?) and have outgrown the horrible "e-word" tagline that followed bands of their genre to adopt a more stripped down power-pop style. Think The Cars in their heyday. Don't believe us? See for yourself, naysayers. April 19th - Pittsburgh PA @ The Rock Shop with Tabula Rasa and Ezekial May 7th - Dayton OH @ El Diablo with Schatzi (Mammoth Records) May 18th - Columbus IN @ Jolie Crider Skatepark with Lenore Syndrome, When Sparks Fly May 25th - Dayton OH @ Jags with Tabula Rasa
++THE REAL DIEGO++ We recently repressed the "e.p. 23:16" CD, with different artwork and they are going to be touring around the West and Midwest from May 10 - 24. We're not sure where they'll be and when, but we'll post the info as soon as we get it. We also have new Real Diego t-shirts and buttons for sale at the online store. Get 'em while they're hot. In Real Diego-related news, David from TRD is playing guitar for Kind Of Like Spitting, and Casey from TRD plays bass In Toys That Kill (Todd from FYP's new band). An unreleased Real Diego song appears on our 2002 CD sampler. Buy it now.
++THE CAUSEY WAY++ While details on the unit known as THE CAUSEY WAY are sketchy as best, rumor has it that Tracy and Scott have dropped their previous band's cultish nature for a new venture: Pilot: Scott Tracy. Pilot: Scott Tracy are currently in the studio with Andy Baker (Servotron) recording a CD for us to be released late this Summer. Expect more new wave / post wave in the vein of THE CAUSEY WAY… but even better. Our insanely delayed CAUSEY WAY 6 song CD will be available via mailorder in April. Bout time.
++GHOULIES ARE GO++ We now have the Groovie Ghoulies' "Magic 8 Ball" 7" back in stock. Order away, kids.
++MICHIGANFEST++ The W.E. crew trekked north to Mi for the Michiganfest extravaganza last weekend. We posted some photos we took, and will be posting more soon. Quick and dirty rundown: Thumbs up to HAYMARKET RIOT (who played the best we've seen them play yet), THE LIARS (awesome spazzed out punk rock), RYE COALITION (who apparantly have succesfully channeled LED ZEPPLIN and who on me over as "best band of the weekend"), SWEEP THE LEG JOHNNY (for their destruction of the ceiling), !!! (for giving all of us the party-band heebie jeebies but ruling nonetheless), and PLEASURE FOREVER (who made me re-think my first [bad] impression of their LP 'cause they were so good live).
That's all for now.

Lots of news this week. Here goes.
LYNYRD'S INNARDS finished mastering their 3rd full-length album "Untitled No. 3" this Wednesday with Doug Ward. Their new CD should be out by late March / early April. As we said before, the CD is "enhanced" and includes a Quicktime animated video for their song "Shitman The Robot". The LP version should be out by late April, just in time for a Spring tour.
Our 16 page 2002 Mailorder Catalog is now done, and we're really pleased with how it looks. We modeled the front & back cover art after a 7" sampler released by the English label Factory Records.in 1979. Send us an email if you want one.
We're getting very excited about our Spring release of Indianapolis hardcore band THE DREAM IS DEAD's debut record. Not only is the music for this record going to seriously turn heads, but the artwork now stands to do the same. We've landed the talent of renowned artist SHEPARD FAIREY for the design of this release. Most of you will recognize Shepard's work as the creator of the OBEYGIANT phenomenon, and as the artist on such notables as Jello Biafra's "No WTO Combo" release. His art shows have graced both coasts as well as places inbetween, and his ANDRE THE GIANT HAS A POSSE image has shown up on literally tens of thousands of stickers, posters, buildings, t-shirts, billboards, national landmarks, and nearly every piece of public domain you can think of. We are extremely excited to have Shepard on board for this project and promise that this release will look as good as it sounds.
Last but certainly not least, our web site will soon see a complete overhaul thanks to the folks at CLASS B MEDIA. Andrei of CBM does double duty as guitar player for the Chicago rock combo AMERICAN HERITAGE, and his web design is visible on the sites of AH, Copper Press, and Divot Records. Look for revamp around March.
That is all. Don't order the Groovie Ghoulies 7", we're still out of them.

In more recording news, post-wave rockers LENORE SYNDROME will be heading to Chicago the weekend of March 15-17 to record with Dale Meiners (Haymarket Riot, Wesley Willis, American Heritage) for the 8.5" vinyl EP we're doing. The plan is to record around 8 - 10 songs: 5 of which will appear on our release and the remainder will appear on EPs on as-yet-unnamed labels. We are also doing a very limited CD version of this release with additional goodies. THE DREAM IS DEAD recorded their 5 song EP this weekend with Tom Roosa. They have yet to add vocals, but we expect this will be done shortly. Check back for an MP3 from this upcoming gem in the next few weeks.

ok, here's the deal.
we have been admittedly slack about updating this site, but not for lack of a good reason. we have a lot going on here, including a complete overhaul of this web site, tons of new records, tours and more. without delving too much into things, here's what you can expect from what else? records this winter / spring...
-WHAT ELSE? RECORDS 2002 CD SAMPLER - February 2002 A free 21 song CD that will be given away free with our 16 page 2002 mailorder catalog. This CD compiles unreleased tracks by Lynyrd's Innards, The Real Diego, (Young) Pioneers, Slingshot Episode, Strangers As Heroes, The Barnhills, The Causey Way, and more, as well previously released songs from our last few records & CDs. The CD will be limited to 1000 copies and will be given away by our bands at shows and on tour, and basically to anyone who asks for it, as well as free with any order though our mailorder, or for $1.00 by itself. the CD's are packaged in 5 ½" computer diskettes and include a free sticker as well.
-LYNYRD'S INNARDS 'Untitled No. 3' LP / CD - March 2002 Recorded by Eliot Dicks (Jawbox, Leatherface) and Chuck Uchida, this album stands as the Chicago trio’s best record yet. 4 chord bursts of anthemic power-pop energy, melodic breaks, and vocal hooks that showcase their knack for witty, intelligent lyrics and melodic angst, with lyrics lending themselves toward the tragic and anguished. The CD version is “enhanced” and contains an animated video for the song 'Shitman The Robot', while the LP version is pressed on heavy 140 gram vinyl.
LENORE SYNDROME 8.5" vinyl EP - May 2002 Yes you read correctly- this is an 8.5" record. Described by one reviewer as "menacing electro-glam with a neo-new wave/post screamo influence. Definitely in the vein of Milemarker, The “New” Terror Class, and the VSS." Artwork for this record is being done by Andrew of LE SHOK.
THE DREAM IS DEAD 12" vinyl / CD - June 2002 Featuring ex-members of Burn It Down, Harakiri, and Sutek Conspiracy, THE DREAM IS DEAD play non-stop hardcore, with constant and politically charged vocals. There are no attempts at vocal melodies or acoustic breakdowns. giving them an edge above most of the stop/start “hardcore” bands out today. The vinyl version will be a limited one-sided 12", with artwork silkscreened on the flip side.
and later on...
EARLY DAY MINERS 10" vinyl EP
SWEARING AT MOTORISTS / OHIO CASKET split FIGURITAS series 7"
THE REAL DIEGO full-length LP / CD
thanks for reading. check out the new MP3s at the top of the page. and please stop mailordering the Groovie Ghoulies 7" - it is (temporarily) out of print. i don't even have one for myself.
